Reported Crop Circles for the State of Iowa -

Mount Pleasant, Henry County (June 3, 1920)

In 1973, a local Burlington, Iowa newspaper, The Hawk Eye, ran a series of several articles about three strange circles found near the Mud Creek recreation area in Henry County (see 1973 entry) and related one eyewitness account from local resident Clark Linch, who at the time was 75 years old, but who has since died. Linch related his “UFO” story to the paper about a sighting he had on June 3, 1920; he said he was able to remember the exact date because he had gotten married earlier in the year, and that it happened on his birthday.

Around 10:00 AM, Lynch, after taking the afternoon off from working on his father’s farm located six miles northeast of town, went fishing along the banks of the nearby Mud Creek. After a short time there, Linch saw a “shiny-blue translucent egg-shaped” BOL (ball-of-light) “the size of a cream can” fly out of the sky and land silently about 15 feet away from him near the riverbank. The BOL sat quietly for about 15 minutes before flying slowly away without any sound at “probably four or five miles an hour”. A single, flattened circle in the grass was left where the BOL sat.

Linch told no one about the sighting until 1955, "You didn't talk about flying saucers in (1920)," he said.
